Ok, it’s time for us to brag a little bit… We’re proud to announce that our very own Deputy Marquez recently won a gold medal in Brazilian Jiujitsu at the U.S. Police & Fire Championships in San Diego. Deputy Marquez won both of her matches by submission in “Women’s Brazilian Jiujitsu - Gi - Blue Belt - 18+ - 144.9 lbs & Under.”

In addition to serving as a graveyard patrol deputy, Marquez is also a defensive tactics instructor, training her fellow deputies on control and defensive tactics skills. Confidence and competency in these skills are vital in helping deputies de-escalate and control many of the tense circumstances they are called to.

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Marquez on her gold medal!
