Each day, tribal women disappear from their families. Some are killed and others go missing. This tragedy is especially common in the Pacific Northwest due to our proximity to an international airport, the Port of Tacoma, I-5 and JBLM.
May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. You can help raise awareness of this scourge in our community by wearing red this Thursday to honor and remember the women who have lost their lives or gone missing. The red dress is an iconic and respectful symbol of the power and dignity of Native women. Click here to learn more.
And make sure to visit the County website and social media platforms on May 5, when we debut a new video to help bring an end to violence against tribal women.
