Young adults will have more opportunities to gain work experience through paid internships all thanks to a partnership spearheaded by a CARES Act initiative.
Pierce County Economic Development, WorkFroce Central, and Goodwill of the Olympics & Rainier Region have formed the Recovery Corps young adult internship program. So far, more than 70 paid positions with 44 area employers have been established. Participants will work with nonprofits and other businesses to help them bounce back from the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Katie Condit, WorkForce Central CEO, said they're proud to be a part of the team that is "stepping up" to create such an opportunity for the Pierce County Recovery Corps.
"No single entity can do this work alone, and the opportunities generated by these efforts demonstrate the power that comes from alignment," Condit said in a release posted on Pierce County's website.
Young adults between the ages of 16-25 who are looking to gain work experience while stimulating economic recovery are encouraged to apply for the positions online.
