CITY OF TACOMA: Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center Service Changes Begins May 4

Trash 1000x667

City of Tacoma issued the following announcement on April 24

Starting Monday, May 4, the City of Tacoma’s Solid Waste Management is making the following changes to services at the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen St.):

  • City of Tacoma residential and commercial customers with garbage loads will be accepted on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays only.
  • City of Tacoma residential customers with yard waste loads will be accepted on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only.
  • Essential commercial garbage loads, as defined by the Governor’s order and in excess of 1,000 lbs., are still being accepted seven days a week.
These changes will be in effect until further notice. Hours of operation for the entire facility will be 8 AM to 5:30 PM.  All customers must maintain social distancing requirements at all times and all payments should be made by credit card. Residential customers must have an active solid waste residential collection account serviced by the City.

The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is still open Fridays through Mondays from 8 AM to 5:30 PM, and is closed Tuesdays through Thursdays.  For more information, including a full list of acceptable household hazardous waste items, visit cityoftacoma.org/hazwaste.

The Recycle Center, EnviroHouse, and Solid Waste front office lobby will remain closed until further notice.

If solid waste customers have items that cannot be placed in their collection containers, they can call (253) 502-2100 in advance to request service changes or additional pick-ups. Also, curbside Call-2-Haul services are still available, but there could be delays in collection service due to demand.

Customers that do not reside within the city of Tacoma can visit lriservices.com or call (253) 847-7555 for more information about transfer stations outside of Tacoma.

Residents will be notified of schedule changes on the Recycle Coach app, and information will be posted on cityoftacoma.org/solidwaste or customers can call (253) 502-2100 for more information.
