Pierce County’s 133 coaches earned an average salary of $28,690 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the seventh highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Washington post-secondary schools during 2022.

Pierce County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Pacific Lutheran University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $38,257.

Male coaches of men's teams received $29,414 on average in Pierce County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $28,290.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
