Frequently Asked Questions
What time should I arrive to Commencement?
We encourage you to arrive an hour before the ceremony. Please arrive at 9am for the 10am ceremony; 1pm for the 2pm ceremony to ensure you give yourself and guests enough time for parking, photos and seating.
Are masks required at the commencement ceremonies?
TCC strongly encourages masks indoors, but will not require them for commencement.
Will I have to show proof of vaccination to attend commencement?
No, proof of vaccination will not be required for commencement.
Will food and beverages be allowed at the event?
Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the gym for any events.
Will masks be provided at the event?
Yes, Level 2 non-surgical and NIOSH approved masks will be available at building entrances and throughout the gym.
What safety measures are in place to mitigate Covid-19?
We have several mitigation strategies in place to help fight the spread of Covid-19. This year, the event will be hosted in building 20, also known as the campus gym. This space is ideal due to its large open spaces and abundant seating arrangements. The gym also has updated air filters from MERV-8 to MERV-13. These filters trap smaller particles, including viruses.
Mask and sanitation stations will be at entry points of the building. They will also be located in the main corridor, the ticket booth, and within the gymnasium and remote viewing rooms. Easily identifiable staff volunteers and Health Monitors will be at the event and can answer questions and direct you to mask and sanitation stations.
What entrances should I use to enter the college and where should I park?
There will be plenty of parking in lots K and L, which are near the gym. Accessible parking spots also will be available at Lot K. People should enter at the campus entrances on South 12th Street and at the TACID South 19th Street entrances. All other entrances will be blocked to provide an efficient traffic flow.
What is the difference between graduation and commencement?
Students can apply to graduate for either their degree or certificate. Commencement is the ceremony that is planned for June 11. Those who apply to graduate with their degree or certificate will be able to apply to attend the commencement ceremony.
