Pierce County officials have announced that it will offer an incentive program for customers to dine inside to help restaurants stay in business.

An exclusive two-week "restaurant rally," will be held in November. The event will be held from November 8 to 19. However, the event will not be held on Friday and Saturday.

The incentive requires Restaurants to offer a 30% discount to customers who dine inside. Each month, the county will reimburse the businesses for each customer who received the discount.

"Our goal is to help an industry that’s really having a tough time, that’s a big player in our community," said Betty Capestany, Pierce County's economic development director in a press release. "But we also realize that public safety trumps that, and that we will be nimble and pivot if we need to be nimble and pivot."

"We tried to come up with contingency plans," Capestany said in a press release. "We don’t want to have to do that, but that’s what good planners do nowadays. So we did put a mechanism in the ordinance to help with that piece of the equation."
