The City of Tacoma’s Neighborhood Planning Program, the Dometop Neighbors, and the McKinley Hill neighborhood are inviting the public to meet at LUX Coffee (3535 McKinley Ave.) and participate in the rescheduled McKinley Work Party on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. Light refreshments will be provided at this free, family-friendly event.

Activities will include:

  1. Red curb repainting
  2. Stenciling around storm drains
  3. Tree planting sign-ups

The McKinley Work Party was initially planned to take place during the McKinley Community Celebration on June 10 but was postponed due to rainy conditions.

More information about implementation of the McKinley Hill Neighborhood Plan, including ways to get involved in this community-led effort, is available at cityotacoma.org/neighborhoodplanning or by emailing neighborhoodplanning@cityotacoma.org.

The purpose of the Neighborhood Planning Program is to provide equitable planning and development services at a grassroots level to help communities create strong, vibrant, and diverse neighborhoods. The program currently includes the McKinleyand Proctorneighborhoods. The next round of neighborhoods will be announced later this year.

The Neighborhood Planning Program supports implementation of the City’s larger planning initiatives and goals. More information about the City’s Long Range Planning Division is available at cityoftacoma.org/PDS.
