Dive team recovers vehicle from Lake Cushman (Mason County)

0Comments

Yesterday, the Pierce County Metro Dive Team assisted the Mason  County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in recovering a vehicle from Lake  Cushman.

On Monday evening, a vehicle went over an embankment at Lake Cushman  and became submerged. Two adults made it out of the vehicle safely, but a  young child was not able to immediately escape. The child was  eventually pulled from the vehicle, but did not survive. The driver was  arrested and booked into the Mason County Jail.

MCSO requested assistance in conducting an underwater evidence search  and removing the vehicle from the lake. Resources were provided as part  of a mutual aid agreement, which allows agencies in our region to  quickly obtain assistance from each other in the form of personnel,  equipment, materials, and other services.
