U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced her July Constituent Spotlight, Trenton Brazie, an Army veteran who is currently serving as a firefighter in the City of Tumwater.

“As an Army veteran and firefighter, Trenton’s dedication to public service inspires his community,” said U.S. Rep. Strickland. “There are many jobs he could have pursued following his ten years in the military, but he decided to pick another career based on sacrifice and selflessness. It is an honor to recognize Trenton this month and celebrate his service to our community and country.”

Brazie joined the Army in 2010 and served for ten years. Having been deployed three times, he participated in combat tours in Afghanistan, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates. Brazie also served with the 17th Field Artillery Brigade at Joint Base Lewis McCord. Following his time as a team leader, squad leader, and platoon sergeant in the Army, he decided to start a family and make a career change – leading him to fire service.

“I always wanted to do something in my life that had meaning, not just for myself but for others,” said Brazie. “Thecomradery of the fire service was something I was looking for in a career. I experienced this while serving my country and now I have that again while serving the community I live in.”

He joined the Tumwater Fire Department in 2019, and he also serves as an Emergency Medical Technician, CPR public education instructor, and a member of Tumwater Fire’s peer support team. Brazie is currently in the process of obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University.

Congresswoman Strickland’s Constituent Spotlight program recognizes exemplary South Sound residents. To nominate a resident of Washington’s 10th Congressional District fill out this nomination form.
